WRTS Book Spotlight: Red and Blue

Red and Blue was written by LOCAL author Jolie Dubriel.

Born in Alexandria, Louisiana, Jolie currently lives in Lake Charles, Louisiana. In late 2014, as she was finishing her bachelor’s degree at McNeese State University, the Disney file Into the Woods premiered, adapted from the Broadway play of the same name. The movie and musical inspired Jolie to create her own version of the world’s most treasured fairy tale character, Red Riding Hood. Red and Blue is her first published work and it is AMAZING!

Targeting children on a reading level of 5th grade and up, Red and Blue is an accelerated reader book valued at 8 points. What a great read for your children, especially this summer. Take a look into Red and Blue: A Reimagined Fairy Tale.

Once upon a time there was a young woman who wore a red cape. She kept her face hidden from the world around her. Her name was Rosaline, but the villagers have forgotten her name. She is Red Riding Hood. Thirteen years have passes since Red Riding Hood was cut from the Big Bad Wolf’s belly. She is quiet and distant. The villagers believe that Red Riding Hood is marked by the wolf who swallowed her. A strange young man with a golden horn tied to his back finds her intriguing. Boy Blue is on a personal mission to see if the rumors are true.

Hey! It’s Katy Miller, owner of WRTS Lake Charles. On a personal note, I would like to give you a little more information on author Jolie Dubriel. She and I met working with the sweetest kiddos on the autism spectrum. Her patience and demeanor played a huge role in the success of the students she worked with. She has a huge heart and an amazing imagination. I am honored to be carrying such a magical book and truly hope you get a chance to check it out. More great things to come from such a great person! Congratulations, Jolie!
